Is Your Facebook Fan Page Sticky? No? Let’s Make It.

Many start-ups create and manage Facebook fan pages just for the sake of being on Facebook and quite a lot of them struggle to make these pages work for their business. I will not go on to discuss the benefits of being on Facebook. But I will ask you, ‘How often do your fans return to your fan page? And how much traffic to your website does Facebook generate?

By talking to friends and reading around I found out that even fan pages with a lot of fans rarely deliver some sufficient traffic to the company’s website. My hypothesis is that fans rarely return to the brand fan page or go to the brand website as a result of Facebook posts. (Obviously, I exclude posts about promotions.) My colleagues and I have the theory that the stickier the fan page is, the better customer relationships are developed and the higher the traffic to the website becomes.

So encourage Facebook fan page visits by making it sticky. Treat it like your website. Provide valuable content. Create visual interest by creative images, posts infographics, use real numbers, make it personal if you can.

Do you remember that funny AIDA model? It sounds lame but it will help you to make your fan page engaging. Why don’t you try its extension AIDCA?

Grab Their Attention

When your aim is direct response, you must grab the attention right away especially on Facebook where the clutter of messages is so high. Try using images or videos as Facebook’s new interface and timeline allow brands to demonstrate their visual intelligence better.

Maintain Interest

Start with the main benefit for your fans. You can look at this part as writing headline for emails – punchy and right to the point. I would recommend offering new information or providing short comments and opinions about viral news. If you are posting about promotions, make sure that your post sounds helpful and friendly. Hard selling will hardly work!

You must keep your audience interested in your post all the way through. But also ensure that your posts are diverse. Maybe polls, Facebook games, competitions and sweepstakes will help you do this!!! Or you can try to generate your own content - articles, pictures, videos.

Generate Desire

Again it is about the way you present your message. If you offer a product, then show how it works. Make sure you demonstrate the benefits of the product and not the features. For example, if your company sells paint and equipment, don’t merely show the variety of colours that you offer. Show a picture of a lovely house with walls in impeccable colours and relaxed happy family. If you have gastro pub, then show the tasty food you offer or a picture of young people who are having really good time.

Create Conviction

Make your fans believe in you, your brand and your brand values. Make them come back. Make them want more. It takes time because it requires consistency, creativity and good posts frequency. It also means that you will have to find the right tool mix of quotes, news, photos, games and promotions! But who says that building a relationship is easy?

It is felt that the greatest strength of Facebook. It allows your brand to develop its own voice and connect with consumers on more personal level.

Ask For Action!!!

Of course, you must ask for action! Tell your fans what you want them to do. Guide them. Try to use time-limits and add sense of urgency. Try to recommend them article or offer exclusive access to something beneficial. But make sure that what you want them to do is simple and accessible!

Good luck with this and let us know how this advice works for you.
